Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from purpose 1 include improved support network and information. These benefits will be evidenced through feedback from patients and health professionals. The benefits will also be evidenced by increased number of sarcoma patients being aware of our charity. The benefits are available to those suffering from Sarcoma

cancer in Northern Ireland and their families and carers. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose would be if a trustee became affected by Sarcoma cancer and this is incidental. The direct benefits that flow from purpose 2 increased visibility of sarcoma so that the public in Northern Ireland are familiar with sarcoma and its signs and symptoms. These benefits will be evidenced through press coverage and fundraising events and with more patients being aware of sarcoma at the point of diagnosis. The benefits are available the general public in Northern Ireland. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose would be increased awareness of sarcoma and this is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. The direct benefits that flow from purpose 3 include the added value to the national programme of sarcoma research and an improved understanding of sarcoma through results of research. These benefits will be evidenced by communication from our partner charity Sarcoma UK who will communicate the use of our funds and communicate the results of the research investment. The benefits are available to those suffering from Sarcoma cancer in UK. There are no private benefits flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

The Boom Foundation aims to raise public awareness and funds, of which 50% will go towards support initiatives in Northern Ireland including a new sarcoma support group for patients and families and financial grants for individuals and families. The other 50% will go to Sarcoma UK to support its nationally-focused work to improve standards of

treatment and care for patients in the UK and to fund vital research.

Charitable purposes

The charity's objects are: (1) To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of sarcoma cancer in Northern Ireland through the provision of financial assistance, support and practical advice (2) to advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to sarcoma (3) to advance the research of Sarcoma cancer through the provision of financial support to sarcoma UK (provided that Sarcoma UK remains a registered charity in the UK)
