Public benefits

We believe we meet our Public Benefits requirement by: 1. Community Development and Social Welfare ? Developing and providing practical support to our beneficiaries and to the wider community ? Enhancing the education and training attainment to the inhabitants of the area by increasing their physical and intellectual well-being. ? Building

individual capacity and personal skills of the beneficiaries and the wider community, which will enable them successfully to fully participate as active citizens within society? ? Encouraging social activity that will improve the lives of the beneficiaries and the wider community by engaging in programmes. 2. Advancement of Health in the Community ? The development of facilities and programmes that help with the health, recreation and social interaction of individuals, which will improve the lives of the inhabitants ? Improving the lives of the beneficiaries and the wider community by providing facilities and opportunities for individuals to engage in programmes and activities that are physically, socially and mentally rewarding for them and their families. ? The development of scenic and therapeutic environmental programmes that helps with the stresses of life. 3. The Relief of Poverty ? Developing programmes that will allowed individuals on low incomes to supplement their food bills by encouraging participation in programmes that will training them to grow and produce their own fresh fruits and vegetables in a safe and friendly environment. ? Guiding and signing posting individuals who are in poverty or at risk of suffering poverty to specialist agencies who will provide advice on debt and finical management. ? The development of training and education programmes, which are aimed at giving the individual the necessary skills to, may play a full and active part as citizens in the employment market. Cairde is very much focus on the improving the health and wellbeing of the community in the Strabane area. This is done by addressing the wide range of social, economic and healthy issues that are presently affecting our community. All our programmes are being developed to have very positive impact on the individual participants their families and the wider community. For all of the above benefits our private benefits are incidental. Our staff receives a private benefit in the form of a payment in wages which is necessary and incidental in advancing the charity’s purpose. Management Committee members and staff undertake training which develops transferable skills that may enhance their personal opportunities in the labour market. Our beneficiaries are Ex-prisoners, Displaced person, men, women, lone parent, individuals living with disabilities, young adults and those approaching later life as well as the unemployed and the long-term unemployed. There is no harm flowing from our purpose.

What your organisation does

Cairde is a not for profit community based organisation which has made a significant contribution to improve the lives of many within the Strabane District Council area. Our mission statement outlines the principle beneficiary target group that we deal with. But part of our organisation action plan is to develop engagement and partnership with the

wider statutory agencies and community organisations so to empower individuals to develop programmes that will address their evolving needs. Cairde fulfils its charitable objectives by: (1) Developing Training & Education opportunities. By developing training and education programmes that help individuals and families from the most social deprived backgrounds within the Strabane District Council area to obtain new qualifications and jobs. These actions have helped to increasing individuals self esteem and in creating a society in which all members have value and self respect. (2) The advancing of Health & Well-being opportunities. Promoting physical and mental health programmes and education courses among the most hard to reach within our society. (Single Men) Promoting health eating programmes that are aimed at individuals and families within the most social deprived areas within the Strabane District Council area. Developing active living and healthy eating programmes in partnership with other community based organisations within the Strabane area. (3) Environment Programmes. Supporting local communities in social deprived areas to improve their environment and giving them a sense of ownership and community belonging. (4) Community Engagement & Outreach Supporting and developing partnership programmes with other that allow for community engagement at a local level on sensitive issues within communities. (5) Advice & Sign Posting Services. Developing services that help individuals and families to access much need advice from statutory and social services

Charitable purposes

OBJECTIVES Cairde will: 2.1 establish resources and services, which will respond to the evolving needs and interests of the Ex-prisoners and Displaced persons communities from Strabane town and surrounding area of Co Tyrone. It will provide resources, which will effectively assist with the empowerment of our community and to promote the benefits of these resources to the Ex-prisoners and Displaced person communities and to the wider inhabitants of the Strabane town and surrounding area of Co Tyrone and its environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”). This will be done without distinction of age, sexually, race and political opinion, religious or other opinion. This will be done in association with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants of the area in a common effort to advance these objectives. Cairde will provide facilities and support in the interests of health and wellbeing, social welfare, education, training, recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of the life for the said beneficiaries in the area of benefit.
