Public benefits
The children have sufficient food, and clothing and adequate shelter, and are now free from suffering and harm. This is demonstrated by visits to see the children’s condition and situation and by receiving regular reports of their progress. The children are sponsored to attend local schools and provided with books and uniforms, so that they receive
a good education. This enables them to obtain qualifications which gives them better job opportunities and allows them to make a more significant contribution to society. We receive reports of their school work and exam results and through this we can monitor their educational development. They live in a Christian environment where they are taught Christian values and see these values demonstrated in the lives of those who care for them. They also attend church weekly for worship and receive teaching about the Christian faith. The benefit is demonstrated in the Christian values they hold which are seen in how they care for each other and those in the community, in experiencing peaceful relationships, and trusting friendships, displaying truth and honesty and having happy and contented lives. The children experience good health and where there is illness medical help is obtained and the illness treated. Good hygiene and cleanliness are taught and practiced. The benefit is demonstrated through regular reports of their progress and visits to see the children. We do not know of any harm flowing from any of these charitable purposes. The Trust is managed on a voluntary basis by a Board of Trustees. There are no payments made to the Board of Trustees and there is no private benefit to them or anyone else.

From its base in Northern Ireland, the Trust seeks to send both financial resources together with volunteers and assistance to its projects in Karnataka. The Trust is managed on a voluntary basis by a Board of Trustees who meet regularly and have responsibility for the financial management and strategic direction of the organisation. There are no payments made to the Board of Trustees. The trustees make periodic visits to oversee the work carried out in India in order to provide a check on the financial affairs of the overseas work and to provide support and encouragement to the local community and representatives of Rabboni Mercy Orphanage in the Karnataka region. Volunteers normally accompany the trustees on these visits. The Trustees seek to develop effective risk management strategies in order to counter any risks encountered from working internationally.
