Public benefits

The Trustees of Glenravel & District Community and Residents Association believe that all our purposes satisfy the public benefit requirement. Purpose 1:The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include reduced social isolation, improvement of the quality of life for those in need and reduced levels of stress and anxiety and increased mental

health among those in need.These benefits are evidenced through attendance at activities such as our senior citizens luncheon clubs, feedback from beneficiaries, independent evaluations of our activities by monitoring and support services such as Supporting Communities NI.This purpose does not give rise to any harm.The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit i.e. Glenravel and District including the villages of Martinstown,Newtowncrommelin and Cargan who have been identified by themselves,family or the local community as suffering from financial hardship or disadvantage.There are no private benefits arising from this purpose. Purpose 2:The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improvement of the quality of life for residents, increased volunteer opportunities, increased community pride,reduction of Anti-social behaviour and reduced levels of stress and anxiety among the local community.These benefits are evidenced through an increase in volunteers, feedback from the local community and visitors to the area and a reported decrease in anti-social behaviour. This purpose does not give rise to any harm.The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit.A private benefit to trustees may arise from an increase in value of local property as a result of an increased desirability of the area as a place to live.These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 3:The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improvement of the quality of life for residents, reduction of Anti-social behaviour, an increase in safe areas for the local community. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the local community and visitors to the area, utilisation of the facilities and a reported decrease in anti-social behaviour. This purpose does not give rise to any harm.The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit.A private benefit to trustees may arise from the family of trustees utilising the facilities through community activities or for leisure purposes.Places on activities are assigned on an equal basis to all the community and trustees and their families are subject to the same procedures.The benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 4:The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved employability for residents, creation of new or enhanced skills,increased self-confidence. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the local community,beneficiaries attending courses, evaluation of projects by tutors and awarding bodies.This purpose does not give rise to any harm.The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit.A private benefit to trustees may arise from the trustee developing skills and experience through this training that may be transferrable to other settings.These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 5:The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include reduced fear of crime and anti-social behaviour, reduced isolation and the reduction of racial/cultural tensions.These benefits are evidenced through feedback from the local community, reduced anti-social behaviour and racial/cultural tensions.This purpose does not give rise to any harm.The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit.There are no private benefits arising from this purpose.

What your organisation does

Glenravel & District Community and Residents Association are a community based charity founded to provide social, educational and environmental activities within the Glenravel ward of Ballymena. The group lobby statutory bodies such as the local Council, Public Health Agency, Housing Executive and Roads Service regarding improvements to the local

area. The group is managed by a committee of who are elected at a public Annual General Meeting on a yearly basis. We provide activities such as: - OCN level 1 Computer Essentials Training - Senior Citizens Luncheon Club - Pharmacy Projects - Youth Club - Men and Womens Health Initiatives - Intergenerational activities - Community Safety / Crime Prevention seminars and projects - Rural Roadshows - Oil Purchase Club - Community Fun Days - Environmental Improvements such as green area maintenance, street furniture upgrades.

Charitable purposes

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Glenravel and its environs (the area of benefit) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, or political, religious or other opinion by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary and community organisations and inhabitants in a common effotrt to: a) Relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage: b) Advance environmental protection and improvement and promote village renewal; c) Provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; d) Advance education and training and provide information and advice to local inhabitants; e) Promote good community relations, racial harmony and equality and diversity;
