a) The advancement and support of the Regional Medical Cardiology Centre at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, or such body as shall succeed it benefits the public in providing improved facilities to investigate heart disease and consequently improve treatment. This is evidenced by the peer reviewed cardiology papers produced by recipients of
the Trusts grants. There is no obvious harm arising from this work. The charity’s beneficiaries are patients with cardiology problems. No private benefit accrues from this object. b) The promotion and support of Cardiac Research in the Regional Medical Cardiac Centre at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, or such body as shall succeed it benefits the public because the results of the research will improve the outcomes for the treatment of patients with cardiac conditions. The benefits include improved life expectancy, enhanced quality of life and enhanced understanding of cardiac disease as evidenced by the peer reviewed medical papers published by those supported by the Trusts grants. No private benefit accrues from this object. c) The promotion of high standards of patient care in Medical Cardiology at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast will benefit the public by enhancing the experience of those members of the public attending the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment. No private benefit accrues from this object. d) The provision of facilities and services for the care of patients requiring Medical Cardiology treatment at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, benefits the public by providing appropriate facilities within which to carry out the research referred to in b) above. The benefits are evidenced by the continued flow of research output from the centre. No obvious harm arises from this object. The charity’s beneficiaries are patients with cardiology problems. No private benefit accrues from this object. e) The promotion of high standards in patient care in Surgical Cardiology at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, benefits the public by reducing the likelihood of adverse outcomes to members of the public admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital for surgical procedures. No obvious harm arises from this object. The charity’s beneficiaries are patients with cardiology problems. No private benefit accrues from this object. f) The promotion of facilities and services for the care of patients requiring Cardiac Surgical Treatment at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, will benefit the public by enhancing the facilities used for cardiac surgical treatment at the Royal Victoria Hospital and reducing the likelihood of adverse outcomes for patients undergoing surgical cardiac procedures. No private benefit accrues from this object. g) The promotion and advancement of hospital research into medical and surgical cardiology in Northern Ireland benefits the public by enhancing understanding of cardiac disease and improving outcomes in hospitals across Northern Ireland.
