Public benefits

In the case of the advancement of citizenship and community development, the provision of a community centre and recreational facilities to improve Community life and wellbeing, to increase the number of visitors to the area, to improve the profile of the area, to instil a sense of belonging in those who may be isolated both physically and

emotionally and to reduce the risk of anti social behaviour. A further part of advancing citizenship and community development is the promotion of mutual understanding and respect of the beliefs and practices of different religions by bringing all sections of the community together through the various groups and facilities provided by the Association and hence enable people who would not necessarily socialise and interact, the opportunity to learn and appreciate each other’s beliefs and cultures, encouraging religious harmony. The beneficiaries are those who live in the Magilligan area. There is no harm or private benefit caused by this purpose. By providing community facilities the Association allows other organisations to provide amateur sport and educational classes and courses which helps to contribute to the aim of community development by improving community life and wellbeing, reducing anti-social behaviour, enhancing knowledge, understanding and self confidence within the community and leading to an increase in skill-sets which helps improve employability. The beneficiaries are those who live in the Magilligan area. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from this purpose. The advancement of the arts, culture and heritage by the provision of classes, courses and information, to promote a greater appreciation and understanding of local history, provide a platform to be creative and to preserve culture and heritage by the teaching of traditional crafts. The beneficiaries are those who live in the Magilligan area. There is no harm or private benefit caused by this purpose. The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by providing a senior citizens club, youth club, parents and toddlers and craft group all of which reduce the risk of isolation, stress and anxiety, improve community life and wellbeing and reduce the risk of anti social behaviour. The beneficiaries are those who live in the Magilligan area. There is no harm or private benefit caused by this purpose.

What your organisation does

Magilligan Community Association helps to establish new voluntary organisations to meet a need which is not currently being met. It also assists voluntary organisations in extending their activities to further benefit the public. Our current groups are Senior Citizen's Luncheon Club, Parent & Toddler Group, Craft Group and Youth Club. We also

strive to extend the participation in the voluntary sector of sections of the community who are under-represented within the sector. Our purposes are beneficial to the public and not harmful.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Magilligan area and its environs of Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, advance mutual respect and understanding of different religious practices and beliefs and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
