Public benefits
Our Vision is to work with the most vulnerable people in some of the poorest countries of the world. Our focus includes, but is not exclusively, orphan children, single parent families, elderly widows and the needy. We have a two pronged approach to tackling poverty and the problems it creates. 1)Our Beneficiary Programs are designed to bring
specific relevant support including assistance with Education, Health, Poverty and Community Development. Working with our partners at local level we have developed a “means-tested” approach to ensure as far as possible a fair distribution of benefits. In order to reduce problems for the local community, within our health programs we incorporate Relief Aid, Food Supplement, Medical Support, eg. provision of Mosquito Nets for the prevention of Malaria, cash to pay for transport to visit the local hospital and provision of food supplemented with vitamins to strengthen people who are suffering from malnutrition or illness such as HIV/AIDs. We award pre-school, primary and secondary school students with funds to pay for education which would not otherwise have been available to increase their prospects. 2)Our Beneficiary Projects mainly comprise of construction and practical solutions to assist beneficiaries e.g. repairing of houses, construction of kraals for livestock. A good example of a project which was set up to improve food production and create income for families is the construction of a piggery to produce piglets. Courses on how to rear pigs cover everything from housing, breeding, disease control and how to manage livestock to ensure sustained income from the start-up. This investment will provide the family with vital protein and also cash from the sale of piglets which enables them to pay for items such as clothing and school fees. In addition beneficiaries gain work experience, new techniques and organisational skills which will benefit them now and in the future. We see ourselves as facilitators presenting the facts and creating the opportunity. While the primary focus of our interventions is to relieve poverty, an overriding concern of the organisation is sustainability, partnership and community owned development working with the local community to build relationships which lead to the formation and empowerment of a local charity. To achieve this we have provided training and support to build the capacity of the local charity. Creating a charity led by Nationals means that there is potential for many communities to benefit from their experience and increases the likelihood of the Charity making a long term difference within many communities long after our organisation have ceased involvement in their day-to-day management. The construction of a Multipurpose Care/Community Centre empowers the local charity with offices and training/classrooms and facilitates the recruitment of volunteers from within the community. This Centre is also crucial in providing support to orphans, especially those coming from child-headed households and those being supported by grandmothers. The impact of this project is that children receive assistance with their development needs through educational, emotional, physical and social support. The benefits of the organisation will be demonstrated through the annual report detailing the achievements of the organisation, by ongoing partnerships with local communities and organisations and by ongoing participation of the local communities in the projects. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the ongoing experience in governance which trustees gain. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. The Trustees have reviewed their actions and believe that any harm caused is minimal and would not outweigh any potential benefit. Practical examples are seen in our health and safety procedures to ensure the safety and the welfare of the public, staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.

Our beneficiary programs are designed to bring specific relevant support commencing with the most disadvantaged within our target groups and locations. Education, Health, Poverty and Community Development Working with our partners at local level we have developed a “meanstested” approach to ensure as fair as possible distribution of benefits.
Within our health programs we incorporate Relief Aid, Food Supplement, Medical Support, eg.Mosquito Nets. Part of our attack on poverty is to implement Livestock Start-ups and honey production through introduction of bee-hives. The result should lead to substantial rural poverty alleviation. Beneficiary Projects mainly comprise of major construction and supplying resources e.g. CareCentre, School including supply of machinery, tools and furnishings. We currently have several projects in Malawi which have been well researched and require funding. As set out in our strategy our ethos is to create income generating projects to ensure the sustainability of the beneficiary programs and projects. We invite individuals, organisations and companies to take up the challenge of raising the capital to fund one of these projects. In short we see ourselves as facilitators presenting the facts and creating the opportunity.
