Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to

harm. The benefit is for children at [insert the name of the] school. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

What your organisation does

Our PTA is made up of a group of elected parents and staff. Our school principal is also involved as an active volunteer. As a group we aim to include all parents and staff in our operation. We do this by inviting parents and staff to share their skills and help at our events, for example face painting at our Summer Fun Day or helping serve

refreshments at our Christmas Fair, or becoming quiz master at one of our quiz nights. We encourage parents and outside groups to use the PTA parents cabin for coffee mornings, relaxation classes and reading help. We believe that good communication is the key to our PTA success and we publish regular newsletters and updates. We also welcome feedback via questionnaires and online surveys such as survey monkey. Our PTA organise a number of fundraising social events throughout the school year which are open to pupils, parents, family, friends and the wider local community. Our calendar of events includes a Welcome Coffee Morning for new parents/guardians and grandparents in October, quiz nights which are held in the local tennis club and in the council buildings, annual Family Fun Day, Ladies Nights and end of year Summer BBQ. We work closely with local community businesses and welcome their support and participation at our events including our annual Christmas Fair and Summer Ball. Our PTA also offer a programme of activities throughout the school year including after school activities such as arts and crafts, sports and board games, design your own Christmas Card for the children, a School Calendar and an Easter Egg colouring competition. The PTA has developed outdoor play areas and growing space for plants and vegetables in the PTA greenhouse. The PTA agree expenditure of funds raised with the school principal to ensure the maximum benefit to all our pupils.
