Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to

harm. The benefit is for children at Holywood Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Holywood Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. What your organisation does

All parents are automatically members of the PTA. A number of parents and teachers are committee members, some of whom and are elected as office bearers. There is regular contact with the HPS community using a variety of forms of communication to ensure all parents are involved and have opportunity to give constructive feedback. This is done in the

following formats: Emails, texting service and social media platform Regular updates on PTA section on the school website Monthly newssheet, parent notes, fliers & press releases in local newspapers Annual PTA online Parent questionnaire Report given each term to school Governors and PTA section included in Governor’s written Annual Report. The PTA compiles a calendar of events to cater for everyone in HPS and wider community. e.g. Christmas & Summer Fair, Parent Quiz Night, Bake Sale & Barn Dance, BBQ and P7 trip and Year Book presentation plus lots more! Through the PTA and school working together cross community links are improved. e.g. The Principal with the support of the PTA has initiated closer links with the local maintained Primary School in Holywood promoting Inter-school events Local school events. e.g. Coffee mornings to integrate new families to the school and the Holywood area Fundraising events have allowed, with agreement, the school to purchase significant resources to support the priorities of the School Development Plan. e.g. • ICT resources - Interactive Whiteboards, • Activity Based Learning resources e.g. large indoor & outdoor play equipment • Literacy resouces e.g. Novels and enhancing the school Reading Scheme The collegiate approach of the PTA and Holywood community is captured in the motto of our PTA …..
