Public benefits

Purpose 1: To advance the gospel of Jesus Christ among the general public, in accordance with biblical principles and practice in Newtownards, North Down, the UK and abroad. The public benefit which flows from this purpose is that the gospel of Jesus Christ is communicated among the general public resulting in personal faith in Him and lives lived

in a law-abiding, moral and godly manner. The spiritual, physical, emotional and pastoral needs of children, young people, adults and older people are met within a church or mission context through public worship services and a range of activities. These benefits are demonstrated through informal feedback from church members, those who attend activities, their families and the community in which we serve. There is no harm arising from this purpose. The beneficiaries are the general public. The trustees gain personally from the charity, but only in the same way that any other member of the public may. In addition, one trustee receives financial support to travel to Pakistan in pursuit of this purpose. This private benefit is necessary to achieve this purpose and is therefore incidental. * Purpose 2: To prevent or relieve poverty among those in hardship both in the UK and abroad, by means of financial or other material support. The public benefits which flow from this purpose are improved financial standing, living conditions, health and reduced levels of anxiety of the beneficiaries. These benefits are evidenced through periodic reports from the beneficiaries, or by visits to the beneficiaries by either church members or those known to the church. Possible harm may be in developing a reliance among individuals to depend on external support. However, relying on experienced contacts to allocate specific gifts mitigates this. There is no private benefit. The beneficiaries are the general public. * Purpose 3: To relieve those in need due to their adverse circumstances within the UK and also abroad. The benefits to the general public from this purpose are the provision of care for children or disadvantaged adults, bringing material relief to those subject to religious or ethnic persecution, caught up in a refugee situation or natural disaster. These benefits are evidenced by improved living conditions, health and general well being of the beneficiaries. There is no private benefit. * Purpose 4: To advance education among those who unable to avail of it due to their adverse circumstances. The public benefits arising from this purpose are the provision of schooling, broader job opportunities and the improvement in the personal circumstances of the beneficiaries. These benefits are evidenced by reports from those organisations or individuals in receipt of support, or visits by church members or those known to the church. The beneficiaries are the general public. There is no private benefit.

We are an independent evangelical church set up to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ both in belief and faith and in the outworking of that faith in practical terms for the benefit of the world at large.
