The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 are: • The development of transferable skills in a range of art forms by programme participants • The provision of opportunities for young people from different communities to participate in activities together, build friendships, challenge preconceptions and learn about each other’s culture

and traditions. • Opportunities to avail of accredited training or be signposted to progression routes in further training and employment. • Volunteering opportunities in arts facilitation, administration, event management and youth leadership where young people can build experience and skills that will help them towards employment. The charities beneficiaries are • Children & Young people from North Belfast and the North Belfast Community A private benefit to trustee may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Increased cultural activities in communities with weak cultural and arts infrastructure. Improved North Belfast image and identity locally and further afield. What your organisation does

New Lodge Arts provide innovative, fun and educational arts based activities that stretch across north Belfast. Working with approximately 2000 children and young people each year, New Lodge Arts has embedded itself at the heart of north Belfast. With a strong community focus and a passion for supporting the needs of young people within the area,

New Lodge Arts provide creative opportunities and challenges that unlock young people’s potential inspiring them to grow and succeed. Core Activities Each year, New Lodge Arts manage a range of projects aimed at meeting the needs of the community. These projects include: • Arts Academy - a range of weekly arts classes including Dance, Visual Arts, Drama and Youth Leadership/Event Management • Youth Development – a series of weekly classes, accredited training and events led by a part-time Youth Worker. Projects include Leadership in Youth Work, Event Management, Youth Advisory Group, Sexual Health, Drug/Alcohol Misuse Training, CV Support, Career Guidance, Volunteer Development and Youth Achievement Training. • North Belfast Lantern Parade – an annual celebration of good relations in north Belfast involving an outreach programme of lantern making workshops culminating in a large scale event in the Waterworks Park • North Belfast Winter Fest – a variety of Christmas themed activities for people across north Belfast including a Pantomime, Santa’s Grottos, Christmas Quiz’s, Pensioners Dinners and • Taster Projects - a series of taster art projects offered to various community groups across north Belfast • Outreach projects – a series of good relations projects with other youth & community organisations

Charitable purposes

1. To advance the education of the public, particulary but not exclusively young people, by: (i) the promotion of the arts generally, including dance, theatre, music, video, computer arts, literature, and painting; (ii) the provision or assistance in the provision fo projects, workshops, classes, performance opportunities, outreach and especially those activities which seek to make the arts relevant to the community 2. In the interest of social welfare, to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the condition of life of the persons for whom such facilities are primarily intended by reason of their youth , age , infirmity, poverty or social and economic circumstances. Nothing in the articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with s.2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
