Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PSA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to
harm. The benefit is for children at Clifton Special School. Charity trustees (PSA committee members) are also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Clifton Special School. Charity trustees (PSA committee members) are also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

Our PSA consists of elected parents, carers and staff. As a group we have a great relationship with the school staff & therapists. They are all actively involved in supporting us. Whether that be helping out at an event or giving their time to bake or make, researching information or tracking down items for school, a real community spirit
exists. We have our own page within the School website which is administered by the Chair with input from members & parents/carers. We hold a weekly 'coffee morning' where parents/carers can drop in for a cuppa and a chat. We have built invaluable connections with local businesses, a recent event (Giro d'Italia - Special Bikes for Special Kids) was held at our local Tesco store. They provided free water & bananas to keep the cyclists going! £1,800 was raised in just 12 hours. We host an annual summer BBQ & Christmas Party as well as fundraising events such as Pub Quiz, Yummy Mummy night and annual Dads 'n' Lads walk (this has raised nearly £10,000 over 3 annual walks). We held a Charity Ball at a local hotel, this event raised over £15,000. We strive to promote Clifton Special School in the community and are always well received. Expenditure of funds for the purchase of educational resources and equipment are agreed at meetings held on a monthly basis.
