Public benefits
The Trust is established to advance Christian faith and practice for the public benefit through the encouragement of fellowship with, and understanding of, the Baptist family around the world. The trustees believe that both elements of the public benefit requirement are satisfied; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include an improved
encouragement amongst those of the Christian faith to advance their faith and to practice responsible citizenship, the development of fresh understandings of contemporary faith and life issues from learning about, supporting, encouraging and understanding the context and experience of European and worldwide Baptist Christians, the introduction of Baptist Christians in Ireland and others in the faith sector, community sector and statutory sector to the activities and influence of the second largest Christian group in the world (the Baptist World Alliance) thus educating and enlightening local Baptist Christians to global and European perspectives, the facilitation of dialogue and discussion with a range of people from the global and European Baptist communities and the provision of opportunities for Baptist Christian leaders in Ireland to convey their views and experiences to Baptist Christian leaders across Europe and globally. These benefits are evidenced through the numbers of public meetings, church services, exchange visits, pastoral and missional support arrangements, conferences, lectures, cultural evenings and opportunities for dialogue and discussion provided. These can ne in various countries including the UK, European nations and the USA. There is no harm arising from this purpose and neither are there private benefits to any individual or unintended beneficiary. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the public at large, but primarily the leaders and members of the Baptist Christian community in Ireland and those from other faith communities who choose to engage in the religious activities organised by this charity, as well as the leaders of other Baptist Christian communities who in turn are supported from Ireland in advancing the Christian faith in other parts of the world.
