Public benefits
Purpose 1: To promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age in Ballymoney and District without distinction by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular: to advance the education of the
beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved learning outcomes, development, language skills, social integration and emotional well being for all children involved in the play school. Other benefits include improved relationships/partnerships with the parents/carers of the children involved with the playschool. Purpose 2: To promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries. The direct benefits that flow from this purpose include the encouragement of healthy lifestyles, for example, through the receipt of healthy snacks which leads to healthier eating at a young age. Other benefits include an improved knowledge amongst parents and carers through the passing on of health-based information relevant to children as they develop. Purpose 3: To support the values and principles of Early Years (The Organisation for Young Children). The direct benefits which flow from adherence to these principles include the improved provision of safe, healthy and stimulating environments in which children can learn through play and develop their own unique qualities, talents and personalities to their full potential. All of the benefits are evidenced in the same way; by weekly observations and feedback from parents, questionnaires and independent evaluations of our service by an Early Years Advisor. Our monthly newsletters, parent and key worker meetings and educational trips all help to demonstrate the benefits. The fees of the playgroup are reasonable, open and non-exclusive and there are no anticipated harms arising from our purposes. There are no private benefits to persons connected with our organisation or other unintended beneficiaries which are more than incidental; in our case, salaries paid to employees are clearly necessary in order to carry out the purposes. The beneficiaries of the playgroup are all children under statutory school age in Ballymoney and District without distinction.

Stepping Stones Cross Community Playgroup (Ballymoney) provides a stimulating, safe and caring environment where children can have fun while learning. We operate in line with the Department Of Education for Northern Ireland (DENI) guidelines as set out under the six areas of learning; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Language
Development, Physical Development and Movement, The Arts, Early Mathematical Experiences and The World Around Us. In providing these activities we aim to be positive role models and to follow guidelines which will ensure equality of opportunity to all children and their families whilst meeting the individual needs of each child to give them the confidence to develop new skills.
