Public benefits
The objects of the club meet the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits flowing from the purposes include increased fitness and well-being and decreases in obesity, the provision of a social, steering and constructive influence in an area of deprivation, anti-social and suicide problems, improvements in cross-community participation and
the encouragement amongst the beneficiaries and local area of amateur boxing. These benefits can be evidenced in various ways including health and weight-based records as well as through feedback from beneficiaries and increasing uptake in participation in boxing. There is, in boxing, always the risk of physical harm but this is vastly outweighed by the many benefits accruing to the individuals participating. On many occasions, people can participate without engaging in full boxing competition. There are no private benefits to any individuals; the beneficiaries are the public, specifically those in West and South Belfast.
