Public benefits

The purposes of FMS/ME Awareness Ni are to support Group members, their families and carers and raise awareness of the issues surrounding FMS, ME and CFS locally and across the UK and Republic of Ireland. There are direct benefits flowing from the purposes of FMS/ME Awareness Ni. The drop in centre allows people to come together and not feel

isolated living with these conditions, as well as offering support and guidance for them. There are benefits in having a network of people to be able to talk to those newly diagnosed with either Fibromyalgia (F.M.S) & Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E). The organisation offers support to families, carers and friends of those patients living with Fibromyalgia (F.M.S) & Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) and, if needed, help them get advice and help via other bodies, for depression, benefits advice, or just to have a chat, as these conditions not only effect sufferers but those immediately connected to them. Benefits also include gaining better awareness of these conditions by campaigning to government bodies on the sufferer’s behalf to get better treatment and specialists in Northern Ireland to treat patients. By advancing education, there is enhanced knowledge and understanding about the Chronic & Debilitating conditions of Fibromyalgia (F.M.S) & Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) as not much is known about these conditions by those who have not been affected by them. These benefits are evidenced by the feedback we receive from support group members and our online support group page. The beneficiaries of FMS/ME Awareness Ni are people suffering from Fibromyalgia (F.M.S) or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) and families, carers and friends of those patients. There is no harm flowing from our purpose. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose.
