Relieve poverty. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include providing a voice which provides opportunity and a valuable platform for promoting and protecting interests thus reducing the vulnerability, fear and powerlessness experienced by those in poverty. Advance health. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a
healthy development, preventing disease and enabling healthy behaviours which in turn bring about healthy working and living environments. Community development. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the building of positive community relations at a local level and the development of a more inclusive civic and cultural identity and provide a more stable, safer neighbourhood by developing strong, positive relations between different people in the village. Advancement of equality and diversity. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes the development of shared space in the locality where people of all religions, community and ethnic backgrounds will feel welcome and valued. Meaningful community engagement will be developed which will address sectarian and racist attitudes that are prevalent in society today particularly as a legacy of the troubles. Environmental improvement. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include enhancing the quality of our public open space including the promotion of habitat restoration and local biodiversity. There will also be an increased awareness and understanding of the local nature and cultural heritage as well as the promotion of countryside access and recreation. Relief of those in need. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved conditions of life and the capability and capacity to participate in the community. Advance education. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the personal development of intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual capabilities; which in turn provide value to the individual and society as a whole in terms of health and well-being. Provide facilities in the interests of social welfare. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the development of working relationships and networks with groups/organisations not traditionally associated with each community. This will allow the community to positively express who they are and what culture and heritage means to them artistically and creatively and will help to create attractive shared public space, which will enhance the physical and natural environment and help people feel part of the community in which they live. These benefits are evidenced through a register and minutes of monthly meetings that detail the activities of the charity. In addition, the charity carried out a community audit where a lack of cohesion and involvement within the community groups was noted and recorded. This is continually updated to reflect the work the charity does in satisfying the needs and wants of the community. Furthermore, activities organised by the charity are covered in the local press were possible. The purposes of our charity will lead to no harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are the inhabitants of Benburb Village and its rural hinterland. A private benefit to trustees may arise from ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Charitable purposes
The Association is hereby established to: Relieve poverty, advance health, community development, arts, culture, heritage, equality and diversity, environmental improvement, and the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage for the benefit of the inhabitants of Benburb Village and rural hinterland its environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
