Public benefits
The purposes of BICCI shall be such charitable objects as shall provide social outreach to members of the community of Bangor or such wider area within Northern Ireland as the committee shall from time to time deem appropriate. The objects shall include the provision of services, facilities or goods to the public and in addition shall include the
provision of advice to Christian churches operating within the greater Bangor area or such other organisations which shall be charitable in their objectives which operate within the Bangor Area area and shall be compatible with having a Christian ethos. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include encouraging, facilitating and generally advancing the role of churches in the Bangor area in meeting the needs of the wider society in practical ways. The public in the wider Bangor area will benefit from BICCI either directly or in conjunction with churches and other organisations providing services, facilities or goods. Churches are encouraged to work together on behalf of the wider community by sharing and communicating information about the needs of the local community to be met. Churches are enabled to work together through the development of BICCI’s website, annual conference, press articles and regular meetings. Benefits to local people and visitors are that, through the Directory and website of BICCI, they are able to access information about church activities and be signposted to organisations which can help address specific problem areas in their life. These benefits are evidenced through the setting up of a foodbank called ‘the Storehouse’, the numbers of people attending the meetings of BICCI, the numbers attending the annual conference, the number of hits on the website of BICCI, and the range of articles provided by the local churches for inclusion on the website. Benefits are also evidenced through the commitment of members of BICCI to maintain their involvement with the initiative and the number of times BICCI is invited to submit articles to the local newspaper on local issues. There is no harm flowing from our purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are the churches and general public in the greater Bangor area. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose.

We work to set up groups to advance the work above. We have helped set up a website and a food bank known as the Storehouse North Down. We organise Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day for those who are lonely. We have a group of retired professional who can assist community groups when advice is needed for example organising management structures or
applying for grants. We have organised events to help churches reach out to those with disabilities.
