1. To advance community development by: (a) promoting and providing volunteering opportunities and activities for the benefit of individuals and communities in the North West of Ireland (the "area of benefit"); (b) supporting and developing the work of community and voluntary groups and organisations in charitable activity which seek to improve
the quality of life of the inhabitants of the area of benefit. The direct benefits that flow from this are:- a) an increased sense of confidence and well-being through active citizenship by, and enhanced skills and knowledge of, volunteers; b) improvement in the effectiveness, efficiency and adherence to good practice of community and voluntary organisations; c) improvement in the quality of life of those who use or are supported by the services provided by volunteer involving organisations. This is evidenced through: (i) records of the number of volunteers who receive training and/or are found placements and measurements of volunteer outcomes; (ii) evaluations that record the increased capacity and effectiveness of volunteer involving organisations. There is no harm or private benefit arising from this purpose. 2. To advance education and training. The direct benefit arising from this purpose is an increase in practical skills, knowledge and awareness among participants which enables them to be more effective volunteers. No harm arises from this activity. There is a modest element of private gain in the form of enhanced career prospects for those volunteers who receive training, but this is purely incidental.

The Churches Voluntary Work Bureau promotes volunteering in schools, colleges, universities and to local community groups. It provides good practice guidance to local volunteer involving organisations and assists with the development of volunteer opportunities. CVWB also organises and delivers training to volunteers and volunteer involving
organisations including courses on safeguarding children and safeguarding adults. First aid, Food Safety and Catering, Health & Safety in Work place volunteer management, measuring volunteer outcomes as well as training courses for specific initiatives or events. Mentoring and co-coordinating to local volunteer involving organisations. CVWB promotes the small grant scheme, Small Capital Grant provided by DFC. Provision of the Access NI vetting service as a registered Body with Access NI and a Responsible Body providing Basic, Standard and enhanced checks mainly in the Council area and also offers the use of a training and meeting rooms.
