Public benefits

There are a number of public benefits that flow from the purposes of Little Diamonds Community Playgroup. - the enhancement of the educational and social development of 3-4 year old children. - the desire to foster good cross community relationships can be advanced through the playgroup setting and the wider community. - Young people can grow up

without prejudice and learn to treat all with equality. - the playgroup presents a chance to enhance the health and well-being of the children by providing a safe educational environment within which they can learn through play. - there is an opportunity for parents/carers to take ownership of the management and running of the playgroup and thereby becoming more closely involved in the formative years of their child's education. These benefits can be demonstrated by the thorough evaluation of the playgroup by various governing and regulatory bodies i.e. DENI, WH&SST and Early Years. Beneficiaries are pre school children aged 3-4 living in or around the Claudy area. There is no harm or private benefit.

What your organisation does

Little Diamonds Community Playgroup is an Early Years Education project which aims to advance the educational, personal and social development of 3-4 year old children by providing a safe, stimulating and satisfying programme of play. We believe that young children can, as they mature, make choices and accept responsibility for their actions and

we also believe that all children have the right to expect positive responses by showing positive behaviour which is consistent with these goals. We are also committed to the Media Initiative for children respecting difference. We are also committed to the training and development of trainees and students form the local College St. Patricks & St. Brigid's and North West Regional College in Derry and Limavady through working with the relevant agencies providing a working environment to aid their training towards qualification.
