Purpose one is: To advance education, relieve poverty, promote the preservation and protection of health among older people, aged 60 + in Maghery and surrounding district. The benefit flowing from this purpose includes mental and physical stimulation and an improved awareness of help available. Improved health outcomes lead to an improved quality
of life and reduce stress and anxiety. These benefits can be demonstrated by verbal feedback from members and their regular attendance. Purpose two is: To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people; to add life to years and years to life. The benefit of this purpose includes social interaction and physical stimulation as a result of taking part in exercise/games and social activities. This can be demonstrated by the existence of the premises which facilitate these activities and the regular use of it. Purpose three is: To raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area of benefit. The benefit of this purpose is the benefit to the community of having a healthier older population. This can be demonstrated by word of mouth and attraction of new members. There is no harm flowing from the three purposes of Diamond Senior Citizens Club. The intended beneficiaries of the organisation are the population of the Maghery area and surrounding district who are aged 60 and over.

The Diamond Club works within the Loughshore area to benefit the needs of the local elderly population. It aims to provide social, recreational and educational advice and support to the local older people. Regular activities include weekly social centre with transport and a hot meal, craft projects, a range of mental and physical activities.
Members benefit from outings and meetings with other groups in the Loughshore area and enjoy the social and fun side of these visits. Enhanced confidence and improved self-esteem results in improved communication and everyone in the group benefits.
