Public benefits
An increased number of Irish speakers benefiting from Irish Medium Education (IME) in the north and to ensure those in the sector have an enhanced knowledge and appreciation of the Irish language and culture in accommodation that is fit for purpose. The principal beneficiaries of InaG are children, from all backgrounds, attending the centres of
IME education, which are supported by the Trust. The main aims of IME are to achieve fluency in the Irish language, to increase appreciation of the Irish language and culture, and to deliver high quality education which delivers the curriculum in full. Support from InaG allows IME schools and pre-schools to meet the criteria for mainstream statutory funding. The trustees of InaG serve on a voluntary basis and they do not derive any private benefit from their role with the Trust. InaG believes that respect for the Irish language is essential in a shared society and also contributes to an appreciation of and respect for diversity and multi-culturalism.

InaG provides grants and advice mainly to groups who are looking to set up IME pre-schools and primary schools. The Trust has purchased sites for schools and provided temporary accommodation for IME pre-schools and primary schools that do not qualify for capital grant status from the Department of Education. InaG provide grants for salary and
running costs for IME schools that did not qualify for funding from the Department of Education [DE] until they met the criteria for DE funding. Similarly, InaG provide seed funding for IME pre-schools before they are in a position to access statutory funding. In addition InaG manages an Accommodation Fund of £2m for the DE which provides high quality system build accommodation units to IME schools that have not yet met the criteria for capital funding from the DE. The Accommodation Fund also funds planning fees and enabling works for temporary accommodation for IME schools as part of a rental arrangement with private suppliers. InaG raises funds by organising events, through funding applications to charitable and statutory funders, by soliciting private donations and working in conjunction with TACA, the lottery which raises funds for Irish language projects.
