Public benefits

In relation to all of the purposes of the charity, the direct benefits can include: the alleviation of both rural and social isolation, improvements in the lives of residents (inclusive of physical and mental health and wellbeing) and the fabric of the area, better knowledge of the history of the area, increases in the number of volunteering

opportunities, enhanced equality amongst residents as well as improved working and collaboration between residents and authorities. Members of the Active 3G Club give positive feedback in response to the benefits of the Project. They have stated that the project not only helps to address both rural and social isolation but that it has a beneficial impact on their overall health and well being. This is made evident in their continuous support for the Club. The Club has been in existence for over six years and the number of members has increased over this time, which also helps to illustrate the continued evidence of need for this project. Members have been involved in the Community Development and Health Network programme (The Community Pharmacy Project) and have undertaken end of programme evaluations and surveys to demonstrate the success of programmes like this that are aimed specifically at this particular age group. The charity has been awarded ‘Best Luncheon Club’ within the Borough of Ballymoney, an award of which we are very proud of. In relation to all of the above, the beneficiaries are all people living in the area and, in particular but not exclusive of others, older people. There are no harms resulting from any of the purposes. No person connected with the organisation gains a private benefit which is more than incidental to carrying out the purposes.

What your organisation does

The charity provides a service for all sections of the community but specialises in providing facilities and programmes for older people living within the village of Dunloy and its environs. This project is therefore for the benefit of the people living within this area.
