Public benefits

Purpose A The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: The quality of life of all sections of the community will be improved, promoted and developed by the provision of improved facilities and an improved environment. The community will be made more secure, stable and sustainable. The physical transformation of the community will improve

the quality of life, security, stability and sustainability of the community. The benefits of this will be evidenced by the following: By monitoring the number of people using our office for assistance with a range of issues. By monitoring the numbers of people using the NIHE sub-office provided in our premises. By improved numbers of people attending public meetings and participating in voluntary activities. By the production of reports to funders and all relevant agencies showing that targets are being met and improved. By feedback from the community and member groups. By the numbers of people participating in community consultations and feedback. By monitoring the numbers of people involved in personal development training and work placement programmes. No harm arises from this purpose. Beneficiaries include local residents; NIHE tenants; people seeking assistance on a range of issues; unemployed volunteers, children and those affected by interface violence. There is no intentional private gain although committee members living locally will benefit from receiving information which is circulated or using the services of the NIHE. Purpose B The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: The quality of life of all sections of the community will be improved, promoted and developed by the provision of improved facilities and an improved environment. The community will be made more secure, stable and sustainable. The physical transformation of the community will improve the quality of life, security, stability and sustainability of the community. The benefits of this will be evidenced by the following: Our work ensures that the Suffolk Community is represented on all relevant groups and agencies bringing benefit to the community. Monthly reports are provided to Forum members who then report back to their own respective groups. Information is circulated to the community through flyers, leaflets and information sessions. There is no harm arising from this purpose. Beneficiaries include families with pre-school children; local gardeners; unemployed young adults; all those living in the area. There is no intentional private gain although Forum members living locally will benefit from the physical improvements to the area. They could also apply for a pre-school playgroup place like everyone else. Purpose C The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: We are currently working to a 3 year Strategic Plan produced in consultation with all local groups, residents and local questionnaires. This highlighted a number of areas of need and gaps in community provision which we are addressing. The benefits of this will be evidenced by the following: Our work ensures that the Suffolk Community is represented on all relevant groups and agencies bringing benefit to the community. Monthly reports are provided to Forum members who then report back to their own respective groups. Information is circulated to the community through flyers, leaflets and information sessions. There is no harm arising from this purpose. The entire community will benefit from the physical, social, economic and environmental benefits identified within the strategy. There is no direct personal gain but anyone living locally will benefit from the changes arising from the implementation of our strategy.

What your organisation does

We promote and develop activities and projects all aimed at bringing benefit to the wider community. These include the following: • Promoting urban regeneration: we played a key role in developing the Stewartstown Road Regeneration Project; the Suffolk Lenadoon Interface Group and Sparkles Daycare Ltd • We are engaged in several important cross

community projects • We are working closely with the NIHE and a wide range of other agencies to develop a large plot of contentious space into a community park. • We have a very successful project which is looking to develop further allotments and growing spaces. • We promote volunteering and training opportunities for local unemployed young people • We support the development of projects in the local community centre. • We help to support community events and other local groups. • We provide a base for local residents to come with housing queries / repairs.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the group shall be: A) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Suffolk estate and its neighbourhood (hereinafter called ‘the area’) specifically the area bounded by a line running along the Stewartstown Road from the building now known as O'Neills Funeral Parlour to the line of Colin Glen River, along the line of the river to the farthest point of Suffolk playing fields, along the edge of Suffolk playing fields to Blacks Road including the land formerly Suffolk Primary School. Turning up Blacks Road to a line running between houses on Oranmore Drive and Trenchard from there along the peaceline as existing on 22 March 1995 to O'Neill's Funeral Parlour without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together with the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. B) To provide or secure the provision of social services, educational and recreational facilities for all sections of the community ie youth, elderly, people with special needs or who are disabled, women, men, children, the unemployed and other disadvantaged groups within the area of benefit. C) To promote any other charitable purpose within the area of benefit with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
