Public benefits

The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes advancement of health and wellbeing and in particular improved sexual health of young people with a reduction in the rate of teenage and unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. It promotes healthier relationships with informed choices and encourages young people to manage

adolescent and sexual relationships more safely which lead to an increased awareness of sexual health amongst young people. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes enhanced knowledge, understanding and awareness of health and in particular sexual health for young people through receiving information, counselling, education and professional advice. Enhanced awareness helps influence policy and improves access to quality sexual health services. Benefits are evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, regulatory authorities and third party statutory agencies including staff in the statutory, community and voluntary sectors. The provision of clinical services can pose a risk of unintended side effects from medication, however this is rare and the benefits outweigh the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are young people living in Northern Ireland and particularly those young people who live in deprived areas. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These skills are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries. There are also incidental benefits to the suppliers of goods and services however this is necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.
