Public benefits

The benefit provided by the YP Fund is the advancement of health, the prevention of illness and the saving of lives. The benefit to the public is the health and well-being of all users of the services provided by the Mater Hospital. These benefits can clearly be demonstrated as being beneficial and not harmful by the outcomes and care of those

members of the public who require the services of the Hospital; detailed medical records are kept of patients in the Hospital. The YP Fund’s beneficiaries are the general public including specifically patients of the Mater Hospital, family members and carers of the patients, relatives and visitors. Beneficiaries also include medical, nursing and ancillary staff; all involved in the promotion of the Hospital and people suffering from illnesses the subject matter of research carried out by Mater Hospital personnel.

What your organisation does

The YP Fund provides finance for a variety of projects including construction, improvements in the physical environment of the Mater Hospital, medical equipment, medical research, patient comforts and the promotion of the Hospital. In the past the YP Fund has provided funding for such projects in/for the Mater Hospital as: The construction and

equiping of a new wing, Transoesophagael Echo Probe and associated building works, Respiratory Service equipment and upgrade of psychiatric facility.

Charitable purposes

Quoting from the Trust Deed dated 10 November 1992 “The Trust is established to support and further, by charitable means only, such of the purposes aims and objects of the Mater Hospital, being charitable, and such other purposes aims and objects similar or akin to those of the Mater Hospital, being charitable, as the Controlling Trustees shall in their absolute discretion from time to time determine". The Mater Hospital is an acute hospital providing medical and care services to its patients. A wide range of medical services including Medical research and training are provided in the Hospital.
