The Churches Community Work Alliance (Northern Ireland) seeks to promote faith based community development work through providing support, training, advice, advocacy , information and resource services to those interested in and/or engaged in community work and social justice as an expression of the Churches’ Mission in Northern Ireland. The
Churches’ Mission is to be defined as the desire amongst the allied churches to see poverty relieved, human rights advanced, conflict resolved, reconciliation advanced and religious and racial harmony promoted insofar as is exclusively charitable under the law of Northern Ireland. The benefits which flow from this purpose include: - Assisting churches, projects and individual Christians to reflect theologically on contemporary social, political and economic issues affecting Northern Ireland and to develop a response to such issues. - Providing learning opportunities and support for volunteers through our volunteer development programmes. - Providing practical help and guidance for community work projects. - Facilitating a Northern Ireland-wide forum for areas of common interest and concern to be discussed and activities to be coordinated. - Providing support and encouragement to the Community Safe Forum as it engages in multi-faith dialogue regarding social issues affecting local communities. - Providing pastoral support for church related community workers. - Providing a link between faith-based community work and government through a body which can represent the Christian Community Work sector in discussions with government and other interest groups/sectors in Northern Irish society. - Promoting dialogue within the Churches and Associations of Churches in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland concerning the contribution of community work to the mission and ministry of the Church by arranging conferences, seminars, publishing and distribution, newsletters, briefing papers, research documents and other means. - The encouragement of community development work in the life and mission of churches within Northern Ireland. - The promotion and development of good community work practice. - The promotion of Christian values for the benefit of individuals, churches and communities. - The moral improvement in society as a whole which religion is considered to encourage. The organisation’s direct beneficiaries are faith-based, voluntary bodies throughout Northern Ireland who wish to benefit from the resources and support that the organisation offers. Communities and society in general will benefit indirectly from the work of the organisation. The benefits listed above will be evidenced through informal feedback from those who make use of the organisation’s services and resources. We do not consider that any private benefit flows from the above purposes. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from the above purposes.

It promotes the process of community development and peace-building, disseminates relevant research and examples of good practice, challenges unjust policy and advocates

The objects of the Trust are: (a) to promote faith based community development work through providing support, training, advice, advocacy , information and resource services to those interested in and/or are engaged in Community work and social justice as an expression of the Churches’ Mission in Northern Ireland. (b) to support faith based and church related community development work communities throughout Northern Ireland Churches’ Mission: The churches’ mission is to be defined as the desire amongst the allied churches to see poverty relieved, human rights advanced, conflict resolved, reconciliation advanced and religious and racial harmony promoted insofar as is exclusively charitable under the law of Northern Ireland.
