Public benefits

All of our purposes meet the public benefit requirement through creative writing and performance drama relevant and accessible to all regardless of age, gender, disability, religious tradition, economic background and political and sexual orientation. The direct benefits which flow from the purposes are a sense of inclusion in the wider arts

community; improved self esteem and self confidence; a sense of belonging. These benefits are evidenced through a body of work available to the general public that will inform, educate, entertain, inspire; and create the legacy of self-sustaining groups and empowered individuals who continue to engage positively with the arts. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public; the wider arts community; all the participants and through them their own family, professional and friendship circles and communities The private benefits are incidental and include a huge sense of self esteem and achievement; a renewed enthusiasm for and belief in the arts as a means of expression and fulfilment, as well as develping communities; occasionally, increased exposure of our own professional profiles and networking with other professionals and the general public.

What your organisation does

Handful Productions is based in the north west of Ireland where its members devise performance theatre to inform, educate, stimulate and inspire open and honest debate in a safe environment. Handful's work is accessible and relevant to all regardless of religious, ethnic and social background, disability and life circumstance, especially those who

might not otherwise identify with or find expression through the arts. The group is committed to using performance theatre to give a voice to those who might otherwise go unheard and unrecognised. Handful Productions has won a number of awards in the past seven years for its work with marginalised groups. Its projects strive to build self esteem, confidence and a sense of identity, together with a positive and ongoing, self managed legacy of continued engagement and identity through the arts.
