Public benefits

The benefits of the organisation are the opportunities provided by Glór to the public and the individual to educate and inform themselves through learning about and around the rich cultural value of the Irish language, in terms of its heritage, linguistics, its importance to local customs, traditions and its environs (townland/field names). In

addition, Glór enables individuals to learn a new skill by learning a new language or brushing up on language skills, and also enabling Irish speakers to converse, in Irish on a regular basis with others who communicate through use of the Irish language thereby supporting and promoting personal development, breaking down & challenging social and cultural barriers/constructs which in itself will aid increased confidence and self-esteem, promote personal well-being and support tolerance. Glór Mhachaire Fíolta has been in existence now for over 9 years, with that comes an increasing annual demand for Irish Language Classes, Youth Club and other activities which have now become the “de facto” life blood of Glór MF. In short, this organisation has a reputation and a responsibility to deliver on cultural and language based offerings, evaluations and feedback forms are completed on a quarterly basis from adults and children who avail of our services. The feedback has remained positive, requesting additional classes, more intensive course and summer schemes for our children , resulting in a scheme which we have successfully delivered over the past 3 years. In addition to this, for the first time Glór Mhachaire Fíolta successfully delivered its first Adult Summer Course , such was the demand. We will continue to monitor and evaluate our progress, successes and challenges. No The charity's benefits are provided to those who are interested or curious in the cultural heritage of the Irish language, including children and young people who will attend our youth club provision, parents and toddlers (young babies) who participate in our parent & toddler sessions, adults from a wide range of backgrounds & the general public who will engage in our language classes and public cultural exhibitions (to include musical performances, poetry recitals, and art installations) the local businesses (e.g. cafés etc.) who will host our “Conversation Circle” and provide catering for our intensive language courses. A recent private benefit flowing from the charity is that the charity will become a lease holder of a building in Magherafelt which will become its "centre/hub" to house a range of activities. The building is not necessary to the achievement of the purpose of the investment, and therefore incidental, but it will help the charity to have a "home" and a physical focus for the majority of its activities and events, such a benefit will also support with the charity's visibility.
