Public benefits

Our Trustees believe that our purposes satisfy the elements of the public benefit requirement. Purpose One - The Advancement of Education. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Individuals' educational attainments are increased • Individuals' life skills abilities are increased and, • Those who are more distanced from the

labour market gain valuable skills to consider employment or self-employment. These benefits are evidenced through qualifications gained, employment secured, feedback from our beneficiaries and regular independent evaluations. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The only private benefits associated are that trustees, staff and unintended beneficiaries may improve their skills through involvement. These private benefits are incidental to carrying out the purposes of the organisation and enhance the organisation’s ability to continue to provide quality services supported by skilled trustees. The beneficiaries of this purpose are any person who is underemployed or unemployed, who wishes to secure employment in the creative industries but has not had the opportunity to do so. Services are provided free of charge although beneficiaries can make a voluntary donation if they wish. Purpose Two - The Advancement of Health The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: • Individuals leading a more Healthy lifestyle • Individuals making healthier lifestyle choices • Improved mental health and well-being • Reduced social isolation and • The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages. These benefits are evidenced by feedback and evaluations and using recommended scoring methods to document improvements in metal health and well-being. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The only private benefits associated are that trustees, staff and unintended beneficiaries may benefit through involvement. These private benefits are incidental to carrying out the purposes of the organisation and enhance the organisation’s ability to continue to provide quality services supported by skilled trustees. The beneficiaries of this purpose are any person who experiences symptoms of a mental health condition, or experiences social isolation. Services are provided free of charge although beneficiaries can make a voluntary donation if they wish. Purpose Three - The Advancement of the Arts, Culture, Heritage or Science The direct benefits flowing from this purpose are: • Heritage yarn and textile skills are promoted and maintained. • Creatives are supported to access work in the arts. • Creatives develop confidence, resilience and support networks. • Enhanced access to arts and heritage for those seeking a non-academic route to improving their skills. These benefits are evidenced by feedback and independent evaluations alongside physical indicators such as uptake in activities around public displays and exhibitions. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. Services will be inclusive and accessible to those from marginalised communities. These private benefits are incidental to carrying out the purposes of the organisation and enhance the organisation’s ability to continue to provide quality services supported by skilled trustees. The beneficiaries of this purpose are any person who is interested in learning more about heritage yarn and textile arts. Services are provided free of charge although beneficiaries can make a voluntary donation if they wish.

Inspiring Yarns Academy will empower individuals with a passion for the yarn, textiles and the creative industries, ensuring that these heritage skills remain relevant and accessible. Our organisation is committed to providing a comprehensive support system to nurture talents and transform aspirations into tangible achievements. Our primary focus

lies in offering vocationally-based practical skills courses tailored to textile and yarn-based techniques. These courses are meticulously designed to enhance the confidence and proficiency of our beneficiaries in their craft. Extending our support through supplementary courses aimed at equipping them with essential entrepreneurial skills, including pricing strategies, basic accounting, and effective marketing techniques for small businesses. Importantly, all our courses are provided free of charge or by way of voluntary donation, ensuring accessibility to those who are marginalised or furthest from the labour market. In addition to our educational endeavours, we foster a vibrant community by organising public events such as Textile and Yarn-based marketplaces and exhibitions. These events serve as invaluable platforms for our beneficiaries to showcase their talents alongside established artists in these fields, fostering networking opportunities and opening doors to potential employment prospects. Through our holistic approach, we not only bolster the practical skills and entrepreneurial acumen of our beneficiaries but also prioritise their mental well-being and confidence. By actively promoting the rich heritage of textiles in our region, we contribute to the preservation and promotion of local arts and heritage, enriching the cultural tapestry of our community. At Inspiring Yarns Academy, we are committed to creating a supportive environment where creativity thrives, barriers are overcome, and dreams are realised. Charitable purposes

The charity's objects ('Objects') are specifically restricted to the following: 1.To provide grassroots training and employment services to support creatives within the community into employment or self-employment within the yarn and textile arts industries. 2. Supporting those, who by way of disadvantage, have not had the opportunities to attend further or higher education to develop their creative abilities, resulting in underemployment or unemployment. 3. Developing and promoting opportunities for aspiring artists in heritage textile-based skills. 4. Promoting use of creativity to improve mental health and wellbeing, increase confidence and resilience and reduce social isolation. Nothing in the articles will authorise an application of the property of the charity for purposes, which are not charitable in accordance with any statutory provision regarding the meaning of the word "charitable", or the words "charitable purposes" in force in any part of the United Kingdom and/or Republic of Ireland and/or the European Union or elsewhere.
