Public benefits
The public benefit flowing from the first purpose to advance education, develop capacity and skills of individuals aged 16 and over with severe learning disabilities (hereinafter called “the beneficiaries”), and in particular: (a) to provide, or assist in the provision of programmes of education, including vocational training to assist the
beneficiaries to enhance their capabilities, competences, skills and understanding; (b) to establish community-owned-business projects promoted by the organisation to create training and employment opportunities for the beneficiaries in the area of benefit; (c) to provide programmes and services that improve beneficiaries physical and mental well-being; (d) to provide opportunities for social inclusion to assist the beneficiaries to enhance their independence skills, social and communication skills. The public benefit flowing from the second purpose will entail improvement of the quality of life of the beneficiaries and increase of their awareness and abilities through (a) Participation in activities in the local community, educational visits and special visits e.g. residential trips; (b) Being able to avail of free or subsidised transport to community locations, educational visits and special events which may not otherwise have been available; (c) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity. The organisation is committed to delivering a range of high-quality day opportunity services to people with severe learning difficulties that assist in their development and personal progression we do this through: -The provision of a range of services and social enterprises that provide the opportunity for beneficiaries to develop their employability skills and communication skills therefore increasing their self-esteem, confidence and independence. -Provide programmes that support beneficiaries to volunteer that add value to the local community. -The development of programmes and services that will support people with severe learning difficulties to fulfil their full potential and be active contributors and valued members of society. These benefits will be measured through attainment of personal learning targets detailed in beneficiaries Learning Support Plans, through feedback from stakeholders including beneficiaries, parents and carers and funders. It is likely that there is no harm flowing from the purposes. The Charities beneficiaries are people with severe learning difficulties living in Northern Ireland. There may be incidental private benefit in the need to pay supervision staff and other staff necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes.
