Public benefits

The direct benefits flow out of bringing a wide range of people together to enjoy activities that are free of charge at a time of increasing social and economic deprivation. We will through our activities reduce isolation by providing a meeting place for people who spend a lot of time on their own in a healthy open air environment. The activities

under the umbrella of music of all genres both band, instrumental and choral. Heritage, through the guided tours and shared memory project which brings together people of all generations. Education involves the shared memory project, the heritage and horticultural tours will of necessity make people interact between our communities, between all of the age groups, and our citizens who are disabled. The benefits can be identified by oral interaction with those who partake of the activities, some written surveys conducted at the events. The craft and Tai Chi courses will be followed up by a written evaluation to give feedback on what we provide which will again feed back into improvement. The activities provided are designed to ensure that there is no harm to any participant. In the event of unintentional harm arising steps will be taken to ensure there is no repeat, The beneficiaries are the participants in the activities the charity has organised. They are designed to ensure wide participation on a number of levels, social group, age group, and groups that reflect the divisions in our society. The Traditional Music will reflect Irish music and dance and Scottish music and dance. Pipe Band Sunday will involve pipe bands from both sides of our community. The charity will not be able to operate our activities without the help of Volunteer organisations, the beneficiaries are the local and wider community, the volunteers who will develop skills that are transferable in life. The activities are designed so that there is no private benefit. Any private benefit will arise when those who take part in the events organised both local citizens and visitors/tourists remain the town and make use of the local businesses and food outlets. In this case the private benefit is incidental. The charity will have to engage a paid Tai Chi teacher and craft specialists. In this case the private benefit is both incidental and necessary to the operation of the charity.

What your organisation does

Our group is registering to continue the work of NMDDC Steering Group formed to refurbish Warrenpoint Municipal Park. We have worked on the cultural, heritage and education conditions of the Heritage Lottery Grant over the last three years. We have formed Friends of Warrenpoint Park to continue the vision we had for Warrenpoint Municipal Park for

all age groups and sections of our society In N Ireland in a time of significant social and economic deprivation. We will organise a programme of Music Sundays in the bandstand of all genres to the public to suit all age groups and communities, band music, traditional music and dance Events for different groups in the community both able-bodied and disabled Heritage. Our group will conduct heritage walks both within the Park and extending out into the surrounding town. The planting of the Municipal Park has been brought back to its original planting. Rare trees were planted which will form the basis of a Tour of the horticultural environment of the Park on two occasions per year.. The rarity of the planting will attract horticulturists from far and wide. We have a 'Shared Memory Project' which will bring together the elderly and young of the community and will result in the production of videos of life in bygone days in Warrenpoint and District through co-operation of both groups. We will continue the popular Tai Chi and craft courses in the Pavilion
