Public benefits
1) Our people to be healthy and well – physically, mentally and emotionally. Currently, those who wish to participate in-house sporting activities have to endure a 52-mile round trip to the Lakeland Forum at Enniskillen. This is not financially viable for multiple members in our community. 2)Older people lead more independent, engaged and
socially connected lives) We want the users of the new facility to feel healthy, safe and connected. 3) Our communities to be inclusive, safe, resilient and empowered). We are aware of social exclusion for the elderly in our rural community - increased community activity and interaction through the provision of a range of courses, activities and sport events in the new facility will be designed to ensure they engage on a personal level with other members so as to encourage a web of connectivity. 4)New facilities in the area will encourage people to settle long term, allow young people to volunteer and see employment options. 5)Our area of outstanding and culturally rich environment is cherished, sustainable managed and appropriately accessible. The benefits will be clearly collated via data sources to demonstrate the benefits of the entity to funders, our community and our directors of MRRC. Quarterly membership and ad hoc user info will be collated and reported to funders as and when required – this can be agreed in advance. Membership increases will be collated and reported as and when requested. Survey results will be reported to funders as and when required. Round table discussion of how participants felt after whole project – open discussion. Review of social media/media. Business survey sent at end of first year. Use of gym by various schools via monitoring forms. Number of youth members recorded. School Gym user questionnaire – to be complete by teachers for younger participants. MRRC was setup to lease a purpose built building from its owners as we seek to advance community development for the benefit of the inhabitants of Garrison and its environs on a cross community / cross border basis. We wish to position ourselves as leaders within the community around social inclusion, health and well-being and to ensure that
opportunities are available for a wide range of affordable, accessible, active and creative pursuits across all demographic. We also wish to work with the community and to bring them together to support each other and to contribute to the regeneration and social sustainability of Garrison as a rural settlement. Specifically, we seek to promote the mental, moral and physical development of the people through the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreational, resource or other leisure-time occupation, with the objective of improving their conditions of life. Garrison community will be provided with opportunities to engage in and be encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices which will enable the inhabitants to enjoy long, healthy and active lives. We aim to organise social, educational and recreational activities that benefit our rural community. These include senior citizens, youth focused and inter- generational activities, all of which will reduce social isolation and alleviate mental health issues which are prevalent in this border region of west Fermanagh.
