Garrison Community Group organises a programme of summer activites for children and teenagers - surfing, fishing, golfing, dance classes, arts/crafts, outdoor pursuits. The group applies each year for funding from a local commercial entity and once secured the funding is used to supplement the cost of the activities. As a result all sections of the
community are able to avail and enjoy the activities on their doorstep. Through the course of the year, Garrison Community Group facilitates keep fit classes for men and women in the area, boxing classes for boys and girls, cooking and healthy living classes for older men and women in the community. Garrison Community actively engaged with the local council and working group tasked with formulating an area plan. This has resulted in the erection of a MUGA pitch, outdoor gym equipment, community notice board and bandstand in the village. First aid classes were provided. Participants received certificates/basic qualifications upon completion of the course. Garrison Community Group participates in the Volunteer Now project allowing young people in the area to become involved in the organisation and running of voluntary projects resulting in accreditation/certificate. Each year Garrison Community Group organises and funds the erection of a Christmas tree and decorations in the village. Community events are held at Christmas, Easter and Hallowe'en which give families the opportunity to come together to celebrate these events as a community together. A one day event is also held during the summer. Funding for this event is normally sourced and activities, which appeal to all ages, are provided at reduced cost. Bus trips/excursions are organised normally twice per year.
