Public benefits

The direct benefits accruing from our efforts are for all children with life limiting illnesses in the Royal Victoria Hospital for sick Children. These children often have long stays in hospital and we benefit these children in a number of ways, all aimed at reducing the tedium and negativity associated with a long hospital stay. Our benefits

include raising their spirits at "fun days" where the children can immerse themselves in fantasy from Disney and Marvel and forget their own situation for a time. The children's garden which we have upgraded and redesigned gives the children a welcoming outdoor space to relax and play in, thereby raising their spirits and helping for a short time at least, forget why they are in hospital for so long. We also benefit the parents of these children by offering an alternative form of entertainment and amusement for the children, relieving the pressure on them. This is most important at holiday times like Christmas and Easter which can be difficult times for parents with more than one child. There are many pictures on our Facebook page of happy children at our events and we have many thank you letters from grateful parents. The manager of the play Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children regularly thanks us for our efforts both publicly and privately. We believe here is no harm accruing from our efforts, all events happen in the hospital, under the supervision of medical staff. The charity's beneficiaries are children with life limiting illnesses being cared for in The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes.
