Public benefits

By advancing the Christian religion through running Christian retreats The Grange will meet a need for spiritual retreat, currently unexplored within some parts of the population. The Grange Christian Retreat is non-sectarian, open to all who wish to participate in the programmes and activities of the charity and will foster links between

communities, Christian denominations, age groups and genders. The direct benefits are a moral and ethical framework provided by the teachings of Christianity. The Grange Christian Retreat directly benefits existing religious groups and organisations through the provision of expertise in the running and development of group and individual retreats. By advancing education for the benefit of the public in accordance with the charity's Christian beliefs the direct benefits are educating people about the Christian faith and advancing the knowledge or abilities of the intended recipients regarding Bible studies, their spiritual, mental, and physical health and wellbeing, moral improvement in society, creative therapies, the natural world, and care for the environment. The Grange Christian Retreat directly benefits leaders by contributing to the development and nurture of leaders – a vital service in any healthy society. By providing relief for those in need for the benefit of the public by reason of youth, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage the charity directly benefits the wellbeing, the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health of a person using its services. 1. Advancing the Christian faith directly benefits the beneficiaries by providing a greater sense of engagement and quality of life. It is recognised that participation in worship brings a moral improvement and benefit to society. 2. Advancing education directly benefits the beneficiaries with an increased level of understanding in relation to the Christian faith. Advancing the knowledge or abilities of the intended recipients regarding Bible studies and their spiritual, mental, and physical health and wellbeing directly contributes to a moral improvement in society. 3. Providing relief for those in need directly benefits the beneficiaries of this aid through an increased quality of life. This enables confidence building and communication, relationship and community building. Advancing the knowledge and abilities of the intended recipients by improving gardening skills as well as life skills, such as communication skills and working in a team, directly improves employment prospects. The Trustees believe there is no harm flowing from any of the purposes. The beneficiaries are those being educated in Christian teachings in an interdenominational, cross-community environment, those finding sanctuary and rest in the peace and beauty of the garden, and those receiving aid from the charity. The charity’s benefits are also open to the wider community as a whole. The Trustees believe there is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.
