The direct benefits from the purpose of Ellie's Retreat are the support of families who have suffered the unimaginable loss of a child. As a bereaved parent, one may experience excessive financial burdens as a result of extended absences from work etc. with the result that a much needed respite break may be financially inaccessible, however

through Ellie's Retreats, these parents can access respite breaks, were no charges are made for the accommodation. this can afford bereaved parents and siblings the space to reconnect away from daily pressures. Families can benefit from the anonymity of the mobile home in a tranquil setting. Funding of research into H-ABC Syndrome. As this is a little understood genetic condition, research is needed to identify potential treatments, which could result in sufferers being able to lead normal active lives. How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? In terms of respite breaks, the benefits can be demonstrated from the feedback directly from those who avail of the services; increasing number of new families using the accommodation; return visit by families; successful fundraising on behalf of the charity. Research is being carried out jointly between the University of Pittsburgh & Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Benefits can be demonstrated by progress in the research undertaken by these bodies. The purposes provide clear benefit to to the groupings identified, negating any potential harm. The charity's beneficiaries have been clearly defined as parents, siblings and carers, from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, who have suffered the loss of a child. Additionally those children who have been diagnosed with H-ABC Syndrome, will benefit indirectly from funding into research of this genetic condition. Any private benefit would be incidental, from the potential of the charity being supported by an individual who satisfies the criteria to benefit from the charity's purpose, ie being a bereaved parent, sibling or carer.

What your organisation does

Under Article 4.1 the organisation carries out it's purpose by providing holiday accommodation within the surrounding of Castle Archedale Forest Park, Lisnarick, Co.Fermanagh where the organisation has purchased a static mobile home within the caravan park on the shores of Lough Erne, to be utilised exclusively for the provision of short respite

breaks for bereaved families of carers who have suffered the bereavement of a child. Under Article 4.2 funding will be made available for research into H-ABC Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that claimed the life of Ellie Nicholl, in who's memory this organisation has been established.

OBJECTS (4) The Charity's objects ("Objects") are specifically restricted to the following: To provide relief and respite for families, or carers, living in the UK and Ireland who have suffered the bereavement of a child up to 18 years of age in particular, but not exclusively, by the provision of family holiday breaks; For the advancement of health by supporting research into H-ABC syndrome.
