Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the purposes (Objects) of South Belfast Foodbank, are that individuals and families in financial crisis for any reason, can receive short term, emergency food supplies and compassionate, confidential listening in a welcoming atmosphere. They are also offered the opportunity for onward referral to other local
services which can help with the causes of poverty. These benefits are evidenced by the ongoing oral and written positive feedback from clients and from our referral agencies, many of whom responded to a survey on our services conducted by us within the last year. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes of South Belfast Foodbank. The beneficiaries of South Belfast Foodbank are firstly, anyone who is experiencing food poverty in the South Belfast area. Any overstock, or excess of specific food items in danger of going to waste, is offered first to other N.I. Foodbanks and thereafter to other charitable organizations which either use or redistribute donated food for the benefit of those in food poverty. There is no private benefit arising from the purposes of South Belfast Foodbank.
