Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from this organisation fulfilling its purposes include the care that is taken of people's spiritual needs and the care taken to look after the welfare of all those living in Bangor and the surrounding area including families, the elderly and the vulnerable, particularly those with low income. The benefits can be
demonstrated through their support for the regeneration of their local community through serving their neighbourhood with initiatives and schemes, including supporting local businesses, providing pastoral and spiritual care and running a children's ministry. The trustees do not consider that there is any harm arising from the church carrying out its purposes. The charity's beneficiaries are potentially all those who live in the area. There is private benefit flowing from the organisation fulfilling its purpose: the payment paid to the Senior Pastor for 18.75 hours per week for fulfilling her role in overseeing pastoral care, managing teams, co-ordinating operations and managing administration. She is the wife of the chair of trustees and the other Senior Pastor, Ben Cupples. The private benefit is considered to be incidental and necessary for the church to effectively fulfil its charitable purpose. The conflict of interest posed by this has been properly managed with Mr Cupples not being party to any discussion or decision making related to these payments.
