Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from purpose 1, the advancement of environmental protection or improvement purpose include: A clean, well kept urban environment that is attractive and pleasant for residents and visitors; enhancement of civic pride; raised awareness regarding the importance of protecting the environment; improved wildlife habitats;

and promotion of sustainable planting. The direct benefits that flow from purpose 2, the advancement of citizenship or community development include: our work to enhance the local environment; encouraging people to take pride in their surroundings; a strong sustainable core of volunteers; the development of inter-generational relationships. The benefits from purpose 1 are demonstrated: through the improvements which can be seen in specific areas where regular maintenance is carried out and projects have been undertaken; regeneration of derelict areas and spaces; the improved knowledge of our volunteers; their willing commitment to our regular working groups; through feedback received via environmental award bodies; support from businesses, sponsorship and successful fundraising. The benefits from purpose 2 are demonstrated through: the recruitment and retention of volunteers; the publics’ attendance at our Friends’ night; feedback from the community during conversations; local media reports; social media; the engagement of schools, Fold Residents and local organisations in Tidy Randalstown activities There is no risk of harm anticipated from these purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are the citizens of Randalstown and all who visit the town for business or pleasure. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of our organisation.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Randalstown area and its environs (hereinafter called the ‘area of benefit’) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, class, marital status, race, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary and community sector organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education with the object of improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular to: (i) undertake environmental protection and improvement (ii) advance environmental education (iii) advance citizenship and community development (iv) create and promote shared spaces
