Public benefits
To provide a stimulating and engaging pre-school education for children in Moy and the surrounding area, regardless of ability, gender, religion, race or ethnicity and to enable the advancement of education for children of preschool age in order to facilitate a successful transition into primary school. The playgroup is cross community and creates
an environment of inclusion and diversity where children learn to adopt a respectful attitude to differences in society. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is to provide a safe, secure environment where children are encouraged to achieve maximum physical, intellectual, emotional and social development through the key areas of play based learning. The children also benefit from a healthy snack each day which aims to encourage healthy eating from an early age. [How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated?] Staff observations are carried out on a daily basis of the children's play based learning and this is documented by staff. Feedback is also sought from parents/carers throughout the year as well as obtaining evaluation, inspections and feedback from Early Years Team, Social Services and the Education Authority. There is no harm arising from any of its purposes. The beneficiaries are pre-school aged children in Moy and surrounding areas, parents and carers. There is no private benefit as a result of its purposes.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
We currently employ 4 qualified members of staff who are dedicated to the day to day operations of the playgroup and who are fully committed to the visions and values of Early Years. There are 26 children registered within the setting aged from 3 to 4 years old. The playgroup is operated by a voluntary Management Committee who act in accordance
with the Constitution and recognise the importance of development of children in preschool years. The Committee participates in Early Years training and have regular liaison with the Early Years Specialist. The playgroup encourages participation from potential future children’s families through the Management Committee; this promotes the setting as well as promoting an early interest in the needs of preschool children. The aim of the playgroup is to provide a safe, caring learning environment which enables children to enjoy learning and to develop self confidence. All children are cared for with equal concern regardless of race, religion, culture or means. Children with special requirements or needs are welcome.
