Public benefits
The members of the choir receive training in choral singing and the study and practice of singing in harmony parts. The general public gain positivity and inspiration from the choir members, as well as entertainment through the music. A further benefit of our activity pre/post lockdown is to raise the profile of community arts & promote
accessibility & enjoyment for everyone, especially those who live in areas of social deprivation or those who experience isolation due to health conditions / disabilities as many activities are remote. Local organisations. Church Groups, and other community based organisations regularly invite us to perform at functions – from Christmas shows to sing-alongs at the local Hospital. All performances and events are chosen with the purpose of generating community and social interaction for the benefit of all participants and concert attendees. Local charities and charitable causes The Choirs provide support to local charities and good causes through performances to help raise awareness and promotion on our Social Media pages. During lockdown we released videos in support of Men’s mental health awareness, the local hospice and to thank the local NHS staff The members of the choir through members reporting of a sense of well-being, bonds of friendship, a sense of purpose and a resultant increase in self-esteem and confidence by taking part in performances, concerts and musical recordings. The general public: through the number of audience members at performances and concerts. Their feedback suggests they see choir members as positive role models. We show how accessible the Arts can be - this is demonstrated by the commitment of the members and the feedback they give within the group which they also cite has promoted good mental and physical health, positive social inclusion and a reduction in social isolation. We provide opportunities for members of the general public to increase their own skill base & capacity if they want to get involved. The choir provides perfect opportunities for inter-generational participation. Local charities, causes and organisations: through positive comments on social media and newspaper/media coverage. We are not aware of any potential harm being caused as a consequence of carrying out the public benefit. The beneficiaries of these benefits are the choir members, the general public and local charities and causes. An incidental yet private benefit may arise to choir members from singing tuition. Through this training, members gain musical skills which may be transferrable into their school or other music classes. An incidental, private benefit arising as a result of Friends of The Choir Studio’s activities is that of the Choir Director, Accompanist and other musicians may be occasionally remunerated for their support to the choir. These benefits are necessary to ensure the purpose and public beneficiaries of the charity can be implemented and maintained successfully.
