Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from purpose 1 includes the enablement of the community and public agencies to work together, increased community cohesion, increased community spirit and increased relations between relations, a decrease in anti-social behaviour and a better education leading to increased chance of employment. The direct benefits

flowing from purpose 2 (a) to (e) include the decrease of loneliness and the improvement of mental health and well-being and the feeling of belonging which is a key social need, the development of new skills and knowledge, the chance to volunteer in their own community and improved living conditions. The benefits from purpose 1 and 2 are demonstrated by the development of good working relationships between Articlave District Community Association and statutory bodies, feedback from service users and residents, the numbers of people using the services, the reduction of anti-social behaviour in the village by consulting PSNI statistics. No harm arises from any of the activities or services provided as they are all risk assessed, adequate insurance is in place along with policies and checks being carried out. The charity's beneficiaries are the residents of the village of Articlave and surrounding district. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by the local council that owns a facility that is leased by the charity. The facility is necessary to the achievement of the purpose and the investment is reasonable and the lease on the facility is long term therefore the private benefit is incidental and necessary.

What your organisation does

Articlave District Community Association carries out various activities. We provide sporting activities, arts and crafts and activity packs to the youth of the village. We have provided food hampers and food donations from various organisations have been distributed to residents in the village. We have helped by collecting school uniforms and

distributing them to those in need. In addition we also did the same with clothing and toys received. We have provided afternoon tea boxes to the senior residents of the village. At Christmas and Easter we put on events and delivered selection boxes and Easter Eggs to the youth. Moving forward we have plans for the provision of more sporting and social activities for the youth, programmes to help with education and reduction of anti-social behaviour, programmes to tackle mental health at all ages, the introduction of a telephone service for the isolated and vulnerable and activities to suit all residents.
