Public benefits

The public benefits that flow from our charitable purpose are: (a) The creation of employment, training and work experience opportunities for residents of the area of benefit and consequently: (i) a reduction in poverty, unemployment and hardship, leading to a better quality of life for the beneficiaries and improvements in health and well-being;

(ii) a greater sense among the beneficiaries of more fulfilled and purposeful lives, resulting in a safer, more stable and cohesive community. (b) The increased efficiency and effectiveness of community and voluntary organisations, resulting in enhanced outcomes and service delivery and, consequently, an improved quality of life for those who benefit from the work of these organisations. These benefits can be evidenced from records kept by various agencies of the number of jobs and training opportunities created and from evaluations of the work and impact of The Braid Foundation. There are no expected harms that will arise from activities associated with the delivery of these purposes. The charities beneficiaries are rural and urban communities, voluntary and community organisations and ultimately the general public. Some private benefit may be obtained by the owners of small, private businesses who rent units on favourable terms, but this is ancillary and necessary to achieving this charitable purpose.
