Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from the purpose include bridging the gap between the teachers and the parents. Through the meetings that take place at the school and events organised, there is opportunity for parents and teachers to exchange views, work together and develop mutual trust and confidence. All of which benefits the children attending

the school. The events organised not only raise vital funds to provide much needed equipment that enhance and improve the children’s learning experience, but they allow parents, teachers and children, as well as the wider community to attended events in a relaxed environment. The direct benefits that flow from the purpose include using the funds raised to provide travel in furtherance of the children’s education. The purchase of vital equipment and additional resources to advance and further the education of the children in the classroom and through sports. The development of the schools outdoor garden as a classroom facility has helped the children at the school to learn focus, patience, cooperation, teamwork and social skills. It also increases environmental awareness and the time spent outdoors reduces levels of stress and anxiety amongst the children. The NeurHeadway project funded by the Association focussed on helping the children and train the teachers in mental well being, social behaviour, how the mind works and how to look after it. Trips to live theatre performances which enhances literary knowledge. The direct benefits that flow from the purpose include the sharing of school policies put in place to guide the day-to-day functioning of the school as well as to make it safe and an effective place for learning to occur. The policies are concerned with key processes within schools and are about interactions between the school, pupils, parents and community. This helps the parents to know of any problems arising and how the school is tackling these. It helps provide the parents with an understanding that the school is working to be better and provide the best education for the children. The direct benefits that flow from the purpose include the children, teachers, parents and wider community working together in a fun way to raise funds for a number of charities including International World Childrens day, Marie Curie and Net Cancer. There is no harm or private benefit.

What your organisation does

At Suppa the committee plan and organise multiple events at the school, (eg Halloween Spooky Fun Night, Christmas Disco and Summer BBQ Night). During all of the school based events there is a second hand uniform stall for parents. The Suppa committee also organise events to engage the parents in the life of the school through activities such as

Balls, Days at the Races and Golf Days. All of the events provide opportunities for engaging relations between families and the school and raising much needed funds. The monies provide vital equipment for school such as interactive white boards, playground paintings, ICT subscriptions, transport for school outings and provision of iPads. We have taught the children about their social and ecological responsibilities through developing our school garden as an outdoor classroom facility. Future projects hope to strengthen our charitable activities within the local community.
