What your organisation does

Eálú addresses a range of trauma and inter-generational trauma-related issues (as a result of the conflict) through targeted well-being packages and counselling. Eálú evidence the impact of this work via a regular OBA report to the relevant supporting funder. Eálú works very closely with local schools to deliver a range of free youth programmes

(including back to school packs). Eálú deliver dedicated youth initiatives, including an anti-sectarian talks initiative – and specific personal youth development programmes. Eálú provide employability and skills enhancement via our dedicated men’s shed project; art class and art exhibitions which facilitates political ex-prisoners, those who have suffered as a result of the conflict and the wider public. Eálú provides additional targeted social, educational, environmental and well-being supports (including home-visits) which tackle isolation among the elderly and those most vulnerable members of the community. Eálú provide a range of social opportunities for women – including: art, flower arranging, yoga and mediation classes. Much of the work above is evidenced through mandatory reporting to relevant funders/authorities, via relevant PR and local media coverage. Eálú have an ongoing programme of quiet diplomacy and engagement with marginalised constituencies; working in an inter- and intra-community mediation capacity (addressing community disputes, and working towards developing inclusive peaceful communities). The benefits of our work in this area can be seen via improved social justice arrangements, increased community cohesion and improved peace conditions locally. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The beneficiaries are ex-prisoners, their families and the broader community. There is no private benefit from the organisation’s purposes.
