Public benefits

The benefits which flow from our purpose include improved outcomes for the children attending through the development of their individual capabilities. Children attending develop skills in independence, understanding, communication, social interaction and become more knowledgeable. Families indirectly benefit from care provided for children

evidenced through observations, photographs, daily assessments, planning and evaluations which are used to asses each child's individual needs and strengths. The environment and healthy living are promoted through the projects we deliver. We have a formal curriculum (for play and learning) and an informal one (which includes manners, sharing and turn taking etc). These benefits are demonstrated through staff meetings with parents, reports, regular inspections by Education Authority, Causeway Health and Social Care Trust and with formal and informal feedback from users of our service. The beneficiaries are all children aged between 3-5 years from the area, (under statutory school age and subject to maximum enrolment as set by Causeway Health and Social Care Trust). We provide intervention and support for children requiring help from other professionals, including children requiring additional support or with Special Educational Needs. Our Committee and volunteers are all local people including parents/carers, some of whom are unemployed or from "less well off" backgrounds and who are encouraged to become involved in the work of the group by volunteering or by sharing their talents. Staff are committed and constantly access ongoing training to provide the best outcomes for our children and their families. Good links are maintained with health professionals providing early intervention, including parental advice on children's development and on dealing with 'issues' posed by children from foreign national families who do not have English as their first language. As a pre-school operating in the Kilrea area since 1973 our ethos on providing good cross community relations is well established, known and valued by many. Our purpose is beneficial and there is no harm or private benefit arising from this purpose.
