Public benefits
The benefits include reducing social isolation, improved health and wellbeing, and a enhancing the look of the area environmentally, engaging local children and young people, and raising the profile of the area. The benefits can be demonstrated through the recent community surveys completed in the area to identify the need. Following the survey we
have been able to develop a number of community based programmes. We have over 20 older people attending a project on a fortnightly basis, and by word of mouth this continues to develop. We have also engaged the local young people who have not been engaging with the group for over 2 years since the unrest. Our volunteers have also attended a number of interagency meetings, and have re-generated the community garden which had been left unattended. Community feedback has been positive with new volunteers helping to continuing to develop the local area in order to create a safe space to live. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The beneficiaries are residents from the within the Castlemara area. Our volunteers have been provided with training which will enable them to organise, plan and deliver programmes within our community. The benefits would be that the volunteers will receive certificates which may help them in their own personal development. This is an incidental benefit.
