Public benefits
The direct benefits from our purposes include carers are less socially isolated and benefit from meeting other carers on a regular, but informal basis which offers them the opportunity to build new friendships and build an effective support network. They are more aware of welfare rights, disability rights and their rights as a carer. Members have
benefitted from mental health awareness workshops and gained knowledge and practical skills to help them cope with the stress and difficulties of their daily caring responsibilities. The benefits are demonstrated through verbal feedback where our members have stated that they feel more supported, informed and less stressed since they have joined Armagh City and District Carers group. They enjoy the informal atmosphere, but state that they have gained very useful knowledge and skills through workshops and attendance of various guest speakers. They also appreciate the opportunity to attend respite days and many have expressed that those few hours without caring responsibilities gives them a chance to ‘recharge’. There is no harm from our purposes. The beneficiaries are carers in the Armagh City and district locality. There is no private benefit from our purposes.
