The direct benefits flowing from the charity's purposes are: the increased opportunities to obtain vocational qualifications in the heritage and environmental sectors; increased access to project based learning accessible to those who would otherwise struggle with formal educational and vocational qualifications; including courses which are
accredited and lead to formal qualifications; the increased opportunities for young people, the unemployed and other economically disadvantaged persons to improve their employability and life chances and gain formal educational and vocational qualifications and skills; the education and improvement to the quality of life and welfare of members of the community and especially to the disadvantaged and those at risk of social exclusion, by providing opportunities to appreciate the scenic, natural, built and cultural heritage of waterways and their natural surroundings and to take part in volunteering, conservation, restoration projects and healthy outdoor physical recreation; the restoration and improvement of the waterways, their structures, towpaths, and natural environments and surroundings and their increased public use for navigation, recreational the leisure time use; the sustainable development of waterways as a catalyst for the social and economic regeneration in areas of deprivation; the associated benefits to the public such as improved public spaces; amenities and leisure facilities and increased employment opportunities. The benefits will be demonstrated by feedback received from participants; outputs such as number of qualifications obtained; surveys and reports on the outcomes of projects; the Charity's annual accounts and the annual report. There is no harm arising from any of these purposes The beneficiaries are member of the community who attend the charity's educational courses including disadvantaged and unemployed persons and young people who would otherwise find it difficult gain qualifications and work related skills. Also members of the community who take part in volunteering opportunities, and the general public, who will benefit from environmental improvement and regeneration of waterways. The charity will employ tutors and staff as required but only where this is necessary in order to further its charitable purposes, any personal benefit to staff members will be an incidental consequence.

The Charity will operate a college providing centres of excellence for education in the heritage and environmental sectors, and opportunities through project based learning related to the waterways for both formal and informal education.It will provide accessible, modular, project based courses which are accredited and lead to formal
qualifications.It will assist young people, the unemployed and other economically disadvantaged persons, engaging them in waterways activities to improve their employability and life chances and will provide training and educational opportunities which are accessible to those who would otherwise struggle with gaining formal educational and vocational qualifications.The Charity will also provide community outreach and educate the public, promoting a greater awareness and appreciation of the waterways and their natural surroundings and heritage. It will provide programmes and activities relating to the conservation, restoration, safe leisure-time use, heritage and enjoyment of waterways and their built and natural environments; and through such activities promote the social inclusion of disadvantaged persons, volunteering and healthy physical recreation. The Charity will provide educational opportunities through waterways based activities for personal and professional development, enhancing the work and life skills of participants. The Charity will promote the sustainable development of the waterways as a means for the social and economic regeneration of areas of deprivation; and undertake projects and programmes which conserve, restore and improve waterways, their structures, towpaths, and natural environments and surroundings for navigation, for recreational and the leisure time pursuits of the public.
